Open for Business Many business users use their laptops in mission critical applications and when things go wrong, the need for a dependable and responsive service organisation is paramount. In this interview, Topaz News talked to Steven Trigg about the benefits that Topaz can offer to business users. TN: You have a pretty impressive list of business and local authority customers - Microsoft, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Lloyds TSB and so on - how do you account for that? ST: The big differentiator for Topaz is what you might call "that personal touch". All calls are handled directly by a Toshiba trained service agent. We are fastidious about keeping our customers informed at all stages. If there's a delay because of parts availability, we call the customer - we don't just wait for the customer to call us. TN: And that makes a big difference? ST: Well, the proof of the pudding is that many of our business customers have been with us since we started up six years ago. TN: So, have you ever lost a business customer to the competition? ST: Yes, occasionally but many of them come back to us when they find that their service requests are being routed through an offshore centre somewhere and they find themselves in a queing system. Or, if the other service company isn't a Toshiba specialist and Authorised Service Provider there can be long delays in sourcing spare parts and that's very bad news for the customer. TN: What's the big deal about component level repair? ST: Well, the bottom line is that beyond the initial warranty period, repairs cost less on average. In some cases the laptop might otherwise be beyond economic repair. That is obviously a big benefit when you have a fleet of laptops to maintain. TN: What other benefits do you offer business customers? ST: Apart from the usual credit account facilities... we offer same day collection from any location in the UK, if requested by 12 noon. Another big benefit that our business customers really appreciate is that we offer free telephone support on any Toshiba laptop related question. I don't want to sound boastful but we probably know more about Toshiba laptops than anyone else in the UK outside Toshiba themselves!
